If you are like your fellow Kiwis the chances are you sit for more than two and a half hours every day in front of your TV watching anything from The Brokenwood Mysteries to an All Blacks Game
It's almost a national sport watching TV in New Zealand and for good reasons. TV brings us together, lets us share experiences, indulge in thrilling drama series and help us to understand the world around us.
But have you ever wondered how TV stations and others in the media industry know what shows people are watching?
Within our Panel of homes, each TV set gets a "meter" attached that will capture TV viewing. Households are also given a remote so each member of the household can let the meter know when they are watching. That's how we can share what is being watched and who is watching TV!

The TV Panel is an exclusive club of 900+ households that share their viewing data daily so the New Zealand media industry can make informed decisions based on the content you watch.
Whether viewers stick to one channel, rapidly shift through TV channels or record their favorite episode of The Brokenwood Mysteries to be watched again and again, we need to represent everyone. Young or retired, watching a lot or a little – we need everybody to share their viewing with us. This is the only way to build a fair and representative view of what's happening in the entire country and ensure all voices are heard.
